All religious texts emphasise the importance of justice and compassion towards not only fellow humans but also all liv- ing creatures. This shared sen- timent across diverse faiths underlines the universal truth that humanity must extend its sense of justice beyond its own kind.
As we bid farewell to the first month of the year, it's essen- tial to reflect on how we've utilised the precious gift of time bestowed upon us. The pas- sage of January often sees a myriad of resolutions, aspira- tions, and the promise of a fresh start. In Surah An-Nisa (4:135), it is stated, "O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for justice, wit- nesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives.
" This verse encourages believers to uphold justice even if it goes against their personal interests, emphasising the universal nature of justice. The Bible echoes a similar sentiment. In the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna imparts the timeless wisdom. These teachings encapsulate the essence of compassion as a virtue that extends beyond mere empathy to encompass understanding and genuine care for all living beings.
